Ralph Hall, the oldest-ever Member of Congress

Grand Old Partisan salutes Ralph Hall, born near Dallas, May 3rd 1923. He was a naval pilot during WWII. Law studies followed. Business ventures included an aluminum factory, a newspaper and a bank.

Public service began with the county bench, then the state senate. In 1980, Hall first won election to the U.S. House of Representatives. After twelve terms, this "old-time conservative Democrat" became a Republican. He aligned closely with Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush and George W. Bush. His service ended after five more terms, at age ninety-one.
