Grand Old Partisan honors Abigail Campbell Kawananakoa, born in Honolulu, January 1st 1882. Her father was a local industrialist and her mother a princess. She studied at a Catholic school near San Francisco.
Kawananakoa succeeded her Republican brother-in-law, Jonah Kalanianaole, as leader of native Hawaiians. In 1924, the RNC named her National Committeewoman. Over twelve years, she attended numerous party meetings on the mainland.
"She has lived a full life, this Princess whom we mourn. Her memory is enshrined in our hearts for all the good that she did. Our tears wet the earth, the flowers and the green fields of Hawaii, to her so dear."
