Grand Old Partisan spotlights origin of the Utah Republican Party. September 2nd 1891, Republicans gathered in Salt Lake City to establish a territorial GOP. Venue was the federal room at the court house. County conventions had elected delegates days earlier.

This endeavor was initiative of Arthur Brown, president of a league of Republican clubs. That league had been championed by journalist Frank Cannon. They observed it time for Utah to have a formal organization recognized by the RNC. Upon statehood five years later, the legislature elected them U.S. Senators.
