Democrats gather for the first KKK national meeting

Grand Old Partisan denounces Democrat devilry. April 24th 1867, the Ku Klux Klan held its first national meeting. Slavery Party thugs gathered at the Maxwell House in Nashville to establish a nationwide organization. Yes, that's the hotel for which the coffee brand is named.

The first Imperial Wizard was a former Confederate general, Nathan Bedford Forrest. He said that the KKK's goal was to eradicate the GOP in southern states by terrorizing Republican activists.
