Grand Old Partisan denounces Democrat racism. After surrender of the Confederacy, Democrats remained in control of southern states two years, until passage of the GOP’s 1867 Reconstruction Act. They continued to oppress Blacks, nearly as cruelly as if they were still slaves.

November 25th 1865, Mississippi enacted a black code – rules to ensure Blacks remained an underclass. They had to be farmers or servants and their mobility was restricted. South Carolina passed similar legislation a month later, followed by other Democrat-controlled states.
