Grand Old Partisan highlights a classic summation of the GOP. January 15th 1904, Republican Senator William Frye, the President pro tempore, observed:
"The Republican Party does not owe its parentage to any single individual, or to any single band of men, or to the enthusiasts or loyalists of any single State or any particular section. It came into being almost simultaneously in different parts of the West, in New England, and in the Middle States; and without any intercommunication whatever, organizations were instituted in a dozen different localities, with the adoption of the same name and the promulgation of the same purposes and principles.
"It is true that the Republican Party became an associated body of earnest and humane men with the chief purpose of preventing the further extension of slavery."
"It was the same party, less a few prominent members, which gave itself to the task of solving the financial and economic problems as these presented themselves, and which carried the country and its people onward in the march of progress to the position now occupied in the front rank of nations."

The remainder is an enthralling history lesson that I will never forget. For years, we have all been misled about the true nature of the GOP. This is the real deal! Read it and be proud!"
