Grand Old Partisan honors Jacob Chamberlain, born August 1st 1802. Advanced techniques made his farm a model for others in upstate New York. He also prospered with a grain mill and a textile factory. This savvy entrepreneur later founded a bank.
Entry to politics was signing attending the Seneca Falls Convention in support of equal rights for women. Opposition to slavery led him from the Whigs to the Free Soil Party. Chamberlain joined the state GOP at its founding and served in the legislature. In 1860, he won election to the U.S. House of Representatives.
