Grand Old Partisan salutes William Warner, born June 11th 1840. During the Civil War, he served as major in the 33rd Wisconsin Infantry. His regiment battled through Tennessee and Alabama.
Peace restored, Warner relocated to Missouri. He was county attorney, then mayor of Kansas City, then two-term Congressman. He next headed the Grand Order of the Republic, a GOP-aligned veterans organization. After losing a bid for Governor, President Benjamin Harrison named him U.S. Attorney. In 1905, the legislature elected him a U.S. Senator.
