Grand Old Partisan salutes Lucien Fenton, born near Cincinnati, May 7th 1844. Outbreak of civil war, he enlisted in the 91st Ohio Infantry. His regiment deployed to West Virginia.
Peace restored, Fenton taught school. He worked at the Treasury Department during the Arthur administration. Returning home, he established a bank. Governor William McKinley named him trustee of the state university.
Fenton was delegate at the 1892 Republican National Convention. In 1894, he won the first of two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. Later years focused on education. His financial institution is now First State Bank.
