Grand Old Partisan honors Frances Klock, born in Massachusetts, January 1st 1844. Her father and a brother were killed during the Civil War. Peace restored, she worked for the Woman’s Relief Corps, helping veterans. Accompanied by another brother, she later relocated to Denver.
In 1894, along with two other Republican women, Klock won election to the Colorado state house. She chaired the Committee on Indian and Military Affairs.
After her two-year term, a Republican Governor named Klock to the board of a State Home and Industrial School for Girls. She also stayed active with a GOP-aligned veterans organization.
