Here is Rep. Steve King (R-IA) at a Tea Party rally on Capitol Hill yesterday calling for Republicans to rein in President Obama's plan for increased federal government spending:
"There's is not a dime that this federal government can spend unless the House of Representative first agrees, so what ever Harry Reid thinks and whatever President Obama thinks, they either have to agree with that or they have to agree with us. We can shut them down. We can hold the line.
I want a balanced budget. I want to repeal Obamacare. We [would be] asking three-quarters of the states to ratify a balanced budget amendment to require [Congress] to do what we know we should have done... We do have enough people I think to hold the line and stand strong -- today, tomorrow, this week -- stare this president down.
Let's get a balanced budget amendment. Let's repeal Obamacare. Let's be responsible and get to the point where our children and grandchildren will not be paying the debt of our time. Hold the line!"
