Grand Old Partisan volunteered with fellow Republican activists on Patrick Mara's campaign for the DC City Council. He would have been contributed a much-needed independent voice to the Democrat-dominated city government. Alas, voters chose yet another Democrat insider instead of Mara, who had been "enthusiasically" endorsed by The Washington Post.
Mara's campaign brought to mind the words of St. Paul: I have fought the good fight. I have run the race. I have kept the faith.
After the polls closed, Republican campaign volunteers gathered to honor Patrick Mara. Among the RNC leaders also in attendance were chairman Reince Priebus, treasurer Tony Parker and chief of staff Jeff Larson. David Weigel of Slate reported on my assessment of the event: Slate
