Newsweek wants Americans to believe that Barack Obama is divine, heaven-sent, a god. This week's cover portrays him as a Hindu diety, Shiva, juggling the many responsibilities of office.
Let's leave aside any notion that Obama is oh-so-burdened by global responsibilities, a claim the socialist media somehow never used to defend George W. Bush. Let's concentrate instead on the ludicrous assertion that the worst president ever is a god.
This is not the first time that Newsweek declared Obama to be a god. Not too long ago, the magazine's editor said: "In a way, Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God."
The president's devotees think of themselves as progressive, but there's nothing progressive about grovelling before a government official. For instance, the Roman Senate used to declare their emperors to be gods. Nothing progressive about that, not one bit.
It is very telling the particular god-like pose that Newsweek chose to depict. Here, a multi-armed Shiva is performing the Tandava, the dance of destruction.
At last, Newsweek has come around to agree with the article that has been atop my Grand Old Partisan blog for many months: Obama the Destroyer.
Michael Zak is a popular speaker to Republican organizations around the nation, showing office-holders and candidates and activists how they would benefit tremendously from appreciating the heritage of our Grand Old Party.
Back to Basics for the Republican Party is his acclaimed history of the GOP, cited by Clarence Thomas in a Supreme Court decision. He is also the author of the 2005 Republican Freedom Calendar. His Grand Old Partisan website celebrates more than fifteen decades of Republican heroes and heroics. See www.grandoldpartisan.com for more information.
